The reporter has reported on various sports for major publications around the globe. She covered football, basketball and Grand Slam Tennis for The Washington Post. Nichols was a reporter for nine years during her period at ESPN which saw her win two Emmy Awards, and featured on a number of the network's best programs, including NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. Also, she was an anchor for Monday Night Football on the network. Her next move was to CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded, a show that she created and hosted was telecast every day on CNN International. It was watched by over one billion viewers across the whole globe. Nichols reported with TNT in the time period reporting on NBA broadcasts, including playoff games, regular season games or All-Star teams. She also reported for TBS reporting on golf and baseball broadcasts and Final Four broadcasts on CBS. It is the only nomination for the honor for a female out of more than 200 contestants.
